ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Georgia Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the conviction in a 2015 murder on Cunningham Drive in Augusta.

Shanadore Harmon had been convicted in the murder of Brittany Trantham, who was fatally shot on Oct. 24, 2015, as Harmon was arguing with Jermaz Lawson.

Lawson and Harmon had gotten into an argument at the Limelite Café and were asked to leave. Lawson left with Trantham and drove her car, Harmon left in another car, and their group eventually met near Lawson’s grandmother’s home.

The argument continued and finally ended with Harmon shooting into the car that Lawson was driving.

The bullet hit Trantham, who was sitting in the enger seat.

Harmon was convicted in a May 2018 trial of the malice murder of Trantham, the aggravated assault of Lawson and three firearms offenses.

He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for malice murder, consecutive sentences of five years for each of the firearm convictions and a consecutive sentence of 20 years for aggravated assault. The felony murder count was redundant due to the conviction of malice murder.

Harmon sought a new trial, claiming among other things that the evidence didn’t show beyond a reasonable doubt that he, and not Lawson or someone else, fired the fatal shot.

After a hearing on June 27, 2022, the trial court denied Harmon’s motion for a new trial, a decision Harmon appealed.

In his appeal, the Supreme Court upheld the denial of a new trial.

Harmon is being held at Ware State Prison.
