AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A tropical wave (could become a tropical depression before landfall) heads toward the FL/GA coast allowing more humid air to return and chance for storms. This will bring back dangerous heat/humidity and afternoon storm chances through the weekend.

We’ll have a nice breeze this afternoon between 6-12 mph from the east. Humidity will be quite tolerable, and highs will be around the 90°.

Highs today will be seasonal in the low 90s, but more humidity will be in the air as a tropical wave moves through the region. This will also bring back the potential for widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be out of the east between 5-12 mph.

It does look to getter hotter and more humid for the weekend. Feel like temperatures will be near 100° Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We will have the potential for hit or miss showers and storms in the afternoon-evening with more moisture in the atmosphere left over from the tropical wave. There will be a moderate heat risk Saturday and major heat risk Sunday. Stay hydrated and cool during the afternoons. UV index will also be 10-11 through next week - sun is most harmful between 10 am and 4 pm.

Getting even hotter early next week with highs in the upper 90s - isolated afternoon storms will remain possible. Keep it here for updates the next few days!
