Company in Aiken getting $124K federal clean energy grant

AIKEN, S.C. - An Aiken business is getting a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant, part of more than $600,000 coming to South Carolina clean energy projects.

Acting State Director for South Carolina USDA Rural Development George Hicks Jr. said $615,644 in grant funding from the Rural Energy for America Program will be split among four projects:

  • Rani Partners LLC in Aiken County is receiving $124,413 to install a direct current roof-mount photovoltaic solar array.
  • Oswald Wholesale Lumber in Lexington County is receiving $395,232 to install a direct current roof-mount photovoltaic solar array.
  • Windham Family Farms in Darlington County is receiving $56,033 to install a new grain dryer.
  • Bobby Marshall Norris Jr. in Chesterfield County is receiving $39,966 to install a new grain dryer.

REAP is intended to assist rural electric cooperatives and small businesses address climate change impacts while growing the economy. The Biden-Harris istration said the USDA has invested over $2.1 billion through REAP nationwide.
