AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - As it gets hotter throughout the CSRA, Georgia Power wants to make sure you know about a newly expanded program to stay safe this summer.

The goal of the income-qualified senior discount is to make sure everyone can have access to power.

If you need to beat the heat, these cooling centers are open

As temperatures soar into the triple digits this week across the CSRA, you may need a place to cool off if you don’t have air conditioning. Augusta has several sites available.

HVAC technician installs air conditioning unit in Nashville home ahead of extreme heat wave.

You can qualify through one of these requirements:

  • You must be 65-years-old or older and have a household income that meets the program’s requirements.

Or you have:

  • Social security disability insurance
  • Supplemental security income
  • Or are a part of the federal housing choice voucher program.

You can review what they need and how to apply on the Georgia Power website.
