According to Price, the plane had come up from Florida two days earlier, last left North Carolina on Sunday morning, and stopped to fuel up in Union at some point before crashing.

Both people in the plane were airlifted from the scene to a local hospital. Price said one person was stable and the other was in critical condition in the intensive-care unit.

It was unclear which one of those two individuals was the pilot.
