Harlem High football team gears up for deep playoff run
HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A new season means a clean slate for our high school football teams.
While some groups are looking forward to turning the page, others are trying to pick up right where they left off.
The Harlem Bulldogs are locked and loaded with a lot of talent heading into the new year.
Head Coach Mark Boiter has put his Bulldogs on the right path in recent years, and they might have the group to sustain that level of play.
The Bulldogs senior class is 17 players strong, and when you add 30 juniors into the mix, who have done nothing but make the playoffs in their careers, that’s usually a pretty good recipe for success.
Blackville-Hilda football standout commits to his ‘dream school’
One of our local small-town football stars is taking his talents from Blackville-Hilda High School to the SEC.

“We had a desire and we wanted to win, and now I think we’re transitioning into more to where that’s what we expect, and we know what’s required as far as the work, and these guys know what’s required. They’ve got that experience, they’ve been around. Everybody on this team has been to the playoffs every year, which makes a big difference,” said Boiter.
With this year’s GHSA reclassification, Harlem’s region looks a little different than it has in the past, creating some new challenges for the Bulldogs moving forward.
“We’ve got three teams that are outside of our area, that are in our region now, with Baldwin, Howard and West Laurens. We’ve got to go to West Laurens this year, so that’s a little bit further of a travel for a region game than what we’ve had in the past and those are 4A schools that got pushed down to 3A with the reclass. So, that makes a difference,” said Boiter.
Westside and Aquinas are also new additions to class 3A region four, alongside other CSRA teams like Cross Creek, ARC and Hephzibah.
