“The tires get much hotter in the summertime. If the tire is marginal on the inside, the belts and the tire itself and the construction of the tire can actually blow out on a long trip,” he said.

Car batteries are also something to look out for.

“We see a lot of batteries in the hot weather extreme temperatures in either direction will take a marginal battery out,” said Clements.

He says all fluids in your car should be topped off.

“Want to make sure the fluid levels are good. Make sure they are in good condition,” said Clements.

Lastly, rubber parts in a car are most affected by the heat.

“Belts and hoses. If you think about it, a lot of the things I mentioned in the tires, belts and hoses all have one thing in common, and that is rubber. Things that will detreat over time,” said Clements.

To make sure your car is ready for the heat, check the date code for all the parts and know that service timing is important.
