ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has charged a former corrections officer with delivering contraband to inmates.

Tatyana Izla of Denmark, 26, was charged Thursday with one count of furnishing prisoners alcoholic beverages or narcotic drugs and one count of furnishing or possessing contraband in county or municipal jail.

On Monday, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office was notified of narcotics making their way into the Orangeburg-Calhoun Detention Center.

“We were asked by the detention center to investigate the possibility that contraband was being brought in,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “That investigation led to a correctional officer being charged.”

During the subsequent investigation, Izla itted to being paid to make a delivery.

Ravenell said investigators seized a quantity of marijuana and a cell phone from Izlar’s vehicle.

Izlar faces between one and 10 years in prison if convicted.
