North Augusta man killed in crash on Ascauga Lake Road

One person was killed in a traffic accident Saturday night near North Augusta, on Ascauga Lake Road near Chalk Bed Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Georgia and South Carolina law enforcement will target speeding and aggressive driving as a part of the Operation Southern Slow Down initiative starting Monday.

Georgia and South Carolina are two of the five states.

During the week, state and local law enforcement will target speeding and aggressive driving.

So, you might notice more law enforcement on highways and interstates.

“Slow down. Save yourself from a lot of heartache and save your life, do the right thing and simply slow down. Speeding is simply not worth it,” said Director of S.C. Office of Highway Safety Phil Riley.

The National Highway Traffic Safety istration says more than 11-thousand people died in speed-related crashes in 2022.

That’s up 25% from 2018.
