Bomb recovered, 2 arrested in Aiken County family battle
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A burglary led to a bomb recovery after an ongoing dispute between two brothers in Aiken County on Sunday, according to authorities.
Authorities say that around 12:40 p.m., deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the 6100 block of Marmalade Lane.

Aiken and Saluda County deputies assisted in the arrest of a 31-year-old man connected to a sexual exploitation of minor investigation.

The complainant told deputies he saw a black truck leaving his home via video surveillance.
Deputies caught up with the truck on a trail near the home and arrested the suspects, Anthony Derrick Barton, 44, and Carlette Bittle, 48.
Barton told deputies he owned the property and that the complainant, his brother, had been fighting over the property after the death of their mother in March 2023, authorities say.
However, authorities found that Barton was not listed on any of the paperwork regarding the ownership of the property, according to the report.
2 men accused of apartment complex fire in North Augusta
Two suspects have been accused of arson at the Palmetto Place Apartments back in June on Thursday, according to authorities.

The complainant told deputies he’d like to press burglary charges, the report states.
During the search of the vehicle, deputies say they found what appeared to be a pipe bomb inside a brown backpack.
Authorities say they ordered everyone to get away from the truck and called SLED to the scene.
According to SLED, due to the look of the device, it seemed they were going to blow it up in place.
Midland Valley football coach arrested for 2nd time in weeks
Midland Valley High School’s head football coach – already suspended over a DUI case – has been arrested again, this time on a charge of domestic violence, second degree.

They then sent up a robot to check on the possible explosive device on detonation, authorities say.
Once the scene was deemed safe, deputies searched the truck again and found a make-shift cane gun loaded with one round of ammunition, according to authorities.
Barton and Bittle have each been charged with possession of a bomb for damage or injury, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, burglary, malicious injury to personal property, and larceny, according to jail records.
