Take a look at the Augusta Players’ new home
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta Players are showing what their new home will look like once the doors open next year.
The building is located on Ellis Street in the heart of Augusta’s theatre district.
Construction started this month, and the plan is for it all to be done by May 1, 2025.
For the past eight decades, the organization has been spread out across Richmond County, with temporary homes.
But for the first time, they have a permanent spot.
Augusta book bus aims to drive a lifelong love of reading
Bayvale Elementary got a gift of a vehicle that's being converted to a book bus. The goal is to promote literacy by bringing books directly to the community.

The building is on the National of Historic Places and is believed to once have served as an old firehouse, theatre and car dealership.
The main floor will have a lobby and storage space, a place to build and create props and costumes.
Then you will take the stairs or elevator to the second floor which will have three rehearsal spaces, two of which can be opened to a large event space.
There will also be offices, a kitchen and a break room.
Executive and artistic director, Scott Seidl, says it’s nice to have everything they do in one place.
Local pilot helps animals find their fur-ever homes
Whether it’s from state to state or across the nation, the goal for Pilots and Paws is to fly out animals who are looking to be adopted into their forever home.

”I am thrilled to be a part of a community that is excited about growing our downtown and growing Ellis Street alongside Broad Street and Greene Street on the other side. I think that us moving here is going to help that and I can’t wait to collaborate with our neighbors and all of our partners downtown to help grow our community in general,” said Seidl.
Until opening day, work does not stop for the Augusta Players.
They are gearing up for their 80th anniversary season which will kick off with Jesus Christ Superstar in October.
The building was financially made possible through the of businesses and individual donations.
