Ga. police investigate bomb, but it turns out to be a movie prop

ROSWELL, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police were called this week after a public works employee came across what appeared to be an explosive device, according to the Roswell Police Department.

They said a city employee was working in a neighborhood off Old Alabama Road when they spotted it.

A burglary led to a bomb recovery after an ongoing dispute between two brothers in Aiken County, according to authorities.

The “explosive ordnance detection K-9 team” responded and quickly determined that it was a movie prop, thrown away by someone working in the film industry, police said, adding that the prop was taken apart and returned to the trash.

“It perfectly illustrates the principle of ‘see something, say something,” Roswell police said in a statement. “If you ever come across anything suspicious, don’t delay, call us right away.”
