S.C. man charged after dogs left for 2 weeks without food, water
LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - A South Carolina man is facing charges after investigators said five dogs were left inside his home for two weeks without food or water.
According to investigators with Lexington County Animal Services, three of the dogs were found dead.

Officers with the Lexington County Animal Services arrested Robert John Jachim, 40, Tuesday after the dogs were found inside his home on Corley Street.
Jachim told investigators he left his home on July 2 and did not return.
Four of the dogs found by investigators were inside wire crates, with two of them deceased.

“He was always eager to learn something new ... and LOVED running fire calls. He was a guy who truly loved his fire department," the Hopewell Fire Department wrote.
Animal services said another small dog was found dead inside a bedroom.
The two surviving animals were taken to Pawmetto Lifeline, an animal protection organization, for treatment.
Brittany Jones, director of animal services, said the dogs are getting extra nutrients as they were “severely emaciated” and refused to eat anything when they first were given care.

A girl and a sibling were bathing when one of them wound up face-down in the water, according to Grovetown police. She didn't survive.
According to Jones, the rescue is helping the dogs walk and they are now on a strict eating schedule.
Jachim has been charged with five counts of ill-treatment of animals and he was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
