2 Richmond County residents die in North Carolina crash
KENLY, N.C. - Two Richmond County residents were among five people killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Wilson County, N.C.
William Tucker, 72, and Elizabeth Tucker, 66, both of Hephzibah, died in the crash. Others killed in the crash include 68-year-old Edward Davis and 69-year-old Martha Davis, both of Greenville, N.C.; and 80-year-old Linda Whitehurst.
Pedestrian killed by truck on Highway 68 in Tennille
A pedestrian was killed in an accident in Tennille early Thursday morning, according to authorities. Traffic was being diverted.
A state trooper said a tractor-trailer driven by 51-year-old Charles Haskell, of Las Vegas, didn’t stop for traffic that was slowing down because of a lane closure.
Troopers say the tractor-trailer driven by Haskell, hauling orange juice, ran into the back of the Chevy Tahoe with the Davises and Whitehurst inside.
Troopers say the tractor-trailer continued forward and hit the Toyota RAV-4 carrying he Tuckers, along with another tractor-trailer.
After Haskell was released from the hospital, law enforcement took him to the Wilson County jail. He faces five counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and was given a $25,000 secured bond.
During the aftermath of initial , one of the tractor-trailers skidded off the highway, while Haskell’s caught fire, burning completely.
Truck spills logs all over road after crash in Allendale County
Deputies were on the scene crash involving a logging truck and a car for several hours on Highway 278 in Allendale on Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Debris from at least one of the 18-wheelers was scattered across both lanes of the interstate. Crews could be seen using a backhoe to remove containers of orange juice from the roadway.
The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed with traffic backed up for eight miles.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
