Family still seeking answers on missing Screven County man
SYLVANIA, Ga. (WTOC) - We’re hearing from the family of Kary Prescott. the man who has been missing out of Screven County for several weeks now.
The family initially reported him missing back on July 6 and on Tuesday, they described the frustration of waiting so long without answers.
Prescott’s cousin Ronneckia Prescott and father Kary Prescott Sr. spoke about the missing man.
“We’re not feeling like we’re being cared about,” said Ronneckia.
“I know somebody knows something. Somebody knows something,” said Kary Prescott Sr.
The Screven County Sheriff’s Office says Kary was last seen on June 23 on Kimwood Drive, his family says he was dropped off by his brother.
Searchers say with the help of the DNR and GBI they checked that area on Kimwood, but didn’t find anything after draining the pond there.
Tuesday, Sheriff Mike Kile says their investigation remains full steam ahead and they’re continuing to chase down leads-interviewing over 50 people. Sheriff Kile also says their plan is to bring dogs around the pond as well as in the pond to completely cross off that area in the investigation.
Kary Prescott Sr. says he hasn’t heard a word.
“He’s supposed to be kin to us too. You know, he ain’t telling us nothing. I don’t understand. They don’t want us out there,” said Prescott Sr.
Kary’s father says he is frustrated with the lack of answers and transparency in this investigation so far. Kary’s cousin Ronneckia Prescott echoes his message.
“We start out with all our trust in our police. But you heard this man say he knows nothing. He still knows the exact same thing we all know. Rumors that we’ve been hearing have been consistent. They remain the same,” said Ronneckia.
The rumors circulating the community, only angering family more with no real answers so far.
“It’s not fair to us as a community. And guess what? Just because they’ve stopped, we’re not going to stop. No one’s going to stop. He’s not going to stop. The kid’s not going to stop. I’m not going to stop. And there’s a whole lot more people in this community that’s not going to stop. They’re not going to rest until Kerry Prescott Jr. comes up, whether it’s dead or alive,” said Ronneckia.
The family went on to say that they also feel hopeless not being allowed to conduct their own search parties to look for their loved one. The sheriff’s office says that the family isn’t allowed on private property, and that they have already searched five or six areas by drone.
“One way or the other, Kary Prescott is going to come from somewhere. We just want justice for Kary, that’s it,” said Ronneckia.
As the investigation continues, if anyone knows anything please reach out to the Sheriffs Office directly, no matter how small the information is.
