Grovetown Police Department hosts back-to-school bash
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Grovetown Police Department hosted a National Night Out Back To School Bash on Friday night.
Children were able to go to the fire safety house and see the air-care helicopter up close.
The event allows police to connect with the community and children in a positive way while giving out school supplies and other resources.

Friday is National Coloring Book Day, and it just so happens to coincide with Beautify Augusta selling its 2,000 “Downtown Augusta Coloring Book”.

“We want kids to see us in a light, to see us as people, not just police officers or firefighters. We are just regular people and laugh and joke with them, giving them hamburgers and condiments on them. We want to see them, and we want to see them get a positive outlook as we are giving them school supplies,” said Assistant Chief of Police Robert Eastman.
They also had seat safety demonstrations and more.
