AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Newly released documents give more details on the death of an infant that led to three arrests this week after the child was found unresponsive at an Augusta motel.

According to arrest warrants for the suspects, the baby died of hypothermia after being wrapped in a wet blanket and placed in front of an air conditioner set at 61 degrees.

Three suspects – the mother, September De’Asia Seright, 19; Diane Lamisha Seright, 42; and Antonio Bennie Nash, 39, all of Washington – were charged with felony murder and child cruelty in the second degree after the incident Tuesday at Budget Inn.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded at 2:02 a.m. Tuesday to the motel in the 1600 block of Gordon Highway.

When deputies arrived, they found 3-month-old Josiah Noel Seright unresponsive.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said he responded to Wellstar/MCG hospital, and the baby was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m.

An autopsy will be scheduled.

The three suspects were booked into Richmond County jail.

Arrest warrants for them allege the child was left in a car safety seat, wrapped in a wet blanket, while September Seright was in the shower, with the child in the bathroom.

She then placed the child in front of the air conditioner “for an unknown amount of time” while she was lying on a couch and the other two suspects were lying in a bed, according to the arrest warrants.
