Aiken clinic aims to expand services with new building
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A new clinic in Aiken has just opened up and is tailored around women and children.
Rural Health Services quickly outgrew its current facility and decided to construct a new building across the street to expand services.
Rural Health Services is a non-profit health center serving Aiken County and surrounding areas.
With the increased demand for healthcare services, they outgrew their current building.
“When we built the Clyburn Center 10 years ago, we thought that it would last us 20 years and it has not. We have outgrown and had a need,” said Liz Stewart, board chair of Rural Health Services.
New cancer center at Beacon Bluff could open soon
We have a new update on the new Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Center at Beacon Bluff.

Three years later, they built the Emanuel-McClain Women and Children’s Health Center across the street from their original location.
CEO Carolyn Emanuel-McClain says now they’re able to expand health care services.
“The importance of this center is it gives us a phenomenal capacity to serve children and women. That’s prenatal care, OBGYN, mammograms, regular women services, as well as children of all ages,” said Emanuel-McClain.
She says they have an abundance of resources for moms when they come in.
“We teach them how to breastfeed. We give them parenting skills. We have what’s called a diaper room where we have free diapers and supplies new moms may need for their babies when they come in and we provide them with that,” she said.
Ziggi’s Coffee opens first Georgia location in Augusta
A Colorado-based chain, Ziggi’s Coffee, opened its first store in Georgia over on Furys Ferry Road over the weekend.

Stewart says this facility is designed for everyone.
“We just want to remind the community that this is a community center. It is for all people, if you have insurance, if you don’t, if you’re employed, if you’re not, it doesn’t matter. We are here to serve,” said Stewart.
Emanuel-McClain says she already has a vision for this new building.
“Is that this facility would be serving any and every person that walks through this door that needs a service that’s provided, and we make a healthier being here and continuing to be here throughout the years,” said Emanuel-McClain.
Rural Health Services will continue using its original building to serve adults.
