Aiken school district looks to add more HVAC technicians
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken County school officials are addressing the need for more HVAC employees.
These employees help provide maintenance for heating and cooling systems in the schools.
Board approved a motion for a $3,000 incentive for new HVAC technicians.
School officials say this is to attract and help retain technicians in the district.
As students start school, new job opportunities open up
As students go back to school, new job opportunities open. Here’s where you can find your next career in the CSRA.

Right now, the district is short two positions over the last few months.
An HVAC company owner in Augusta says the need for more HVAC technicians is a growing trend across the CSRA, and he’s feeling the impacts felt in his own business.
“They want someone right away but because of the number of calls, we can’t get to them as fast as they want us to. We would hire more techs today and what we are seeing today is the kids coming out of high school don’t go after the trades,” said Jeff Miller, co-owner of Sig Cox Heating and Cooling.
The board says they are also looking to re-evaluate all of their skill position salaries to keep them competitive.
They are hoping to come up with a clearer plan for the next school year.
