Aiken man pleads guilty to bank fraud, officials say
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - On July 16, a federal grand jury in Columbia returned a three-count indictment against two Aiken men, accusing them of bank fraud and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
The indictment alleges Thomas Allen Bateman Jr., 50, and Cody Lee Anderson, 37, enticed an elderly woman to leave all her assets to Bateman through a will that designated Anderson as her personal representative.
Orangeburg pair accused of pulling guns on dad, 11-year-old
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery on Interstate 26.

At the time, she did not have the mental capacity to make a knowing and voluntary decision regarding her assets, according to prosecutors.
This week, Bateman plead guilty to bank fraud, according to officials.
Bateman and Anderson face a maximum penalty of 30 years of imprisonment.
An arraignment is scheduled before Judge Paige J. Gossett on July 31.
The case was investigated by the FBI.
