Local group opens center to help kids with autism

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local organization is expanding its services for families with children who have autism. 

ABLE Kids held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Broad Street location. 

The program helps with early intervention to prepare children for school. 

North Augusta rescue aims to heal kids through horses

Healing with horses is what one local rescue is doing for kids of all ages. Hope for Hooves Rescue is getting ready to welcome kids who are navigating crises, trauma and life challenges.

They say that adding a new location it helps with a growing need. 

“We come in, we assess them and once they start, we work on the social skills, any skills that will help them in the future,” said Regional ABA Director Mattavia Smalls. “It means a lot to me. I love the population. It touches my heart to see the progression seeing the progression means the world, we are impacting the world.” 

ABLE Kids has 20 clinics and has been helping children since 2016.
