Funeral held for Paulding County deputy killed in line of duty
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Mourners gathered Friday for the visitation and funeral for Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brandon Cunningham, a 30-year-old deputy who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute last Saturday.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. at West Ridge Church on Hiram Acworth Highway near Dallas.

On Saturday, Cunningham and another deputy were called to a home in the Harmony Creek subdivision of Hiram. Cunningham was fatally shot less than ten seconds after arriving at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect, 42-year-old James Samuel Atkins, shot and killed himself after the hours-long standoff that followed.
