15-year-old boy drowns off the coast of Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the swimmer who drowned after disappearing off the Myrtle Beach coast this past weekend.
The body of Edwin Gonzalez-Rosendo, a 15-year-old boy visiting from Shannon, N.C., was recovered Sunday night near 18th Avenue South, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Victim’s family relieved after USC student’s killer loses appeal
The family of a University of South Carolina student who was brutally murdered after getting into a car she mistakenly thought was her Uber home is expressing relief now that the man convicted in her killing will remain behind bars.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department said Gonzalez-Rosendo’s body washed ashore shortly after 6:30 p.m. in that area.
Officials said Gonzalez-Rosendo and another swimmer were in reportedly distress just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of 12th Avenue South as lifeguards, ocean rescue and beach patrol swimmers entered the water.
41-year-old man arrested in S.C. in Augusta woman’s death
A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection to a 53-year-old woman’s death in Augusta. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Samuel Howell was arrested on Wednesday in Summerville, S.C.

The other swimmer was rescued, but no additional information has been provided on their condition.
Myrtle Beach police are investigating Gonzalez-Rosendo’s death.
