‘An awesome officer’: Many mourn 2nd Ga. deputy slain within a week
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The funeral plans for a Carroll County deputy who died in the line of duty have been announced.
Investigator Taylor Bristow, 30, was shot serving a warrant Tuesday on Don Rich Drive in Carrollton. He spent several days in the ICU before dying of his injuries.
The announcement of his death came just a day after the funeral of a Paulding County deputy killed in the line of duty.
Leilani Simon appears in court, preparing for Oct. trial
Leilani Simon, the mother accused of killing her toddler Quinton and discarding his body in a dumpster, made an appearance in court on Friday.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said children and animal abuse cases were Bristow’s “ion” as a deputy. He died serving a warrant in a child exploitation case. The suspect shot both Bristow and himself.
Keith Jiles said he’s been the chaplain with the Caroll County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years and knew Bristow.

“I know Taylor as an officer here. He’s been with the sheriff’s department for about six years, and he’s been an investigator here for the last year or so. Just done an outstanding job there. Everyone here at the department really liked and cared for Taylor,” Jiles said.
“He was just an awesome officer. He loved his job. It was his desire to be that detective. He finally got to do that. He was just outstanding at his job, and that’s what he loved to do,” Jiles said.
Bristow leaves behind a wife, a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
“His fellow officers loved him to death and were there to him and today, we’re there for them, as they’re mourning their loss as well,” Jiles said.
Jiles said it’s been a difficult week for the entire department and Bristow’s family.
A year later, Wrens re slain 19-year-old
The community came together to celebrate the life of 19-year-old Khia Shield, who was shot and killed in her home in Wrens a year ago.

“I know Taylor as an officer here. According to the sheriff’s office, Bristow’s funeral will be held Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. at Mount Holly Church in Carrollton. The family will “receive friends” from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 28 at the church.
An interment will follow at a later date.

“The is just unreal as you can here today, with this memorial as they continue to come and show up and show their concern and love from the sheriff’s department and the same, I expect to happen that day of the visitation that’s why it’s being held at Mount Holly Church there in Bremen on 127,” Jiles said.

Bristow was an investigator who had been with the department for six years. West Georgia First Responders is hosting the only legitimate site to donate to Bristow’s family, the sheriff’s office said.
