NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Augusta man has been arrested two years after being accused of criminal sexual conduct with a minor that occurred in North Augusta, we learned on Wednesday.

In November 2022, deputies responded to Augusta University Medical Center to meet with a complainant regarding a sexual assault of a minor that occurred in North Augusta two months prior, according to North Augusta Public Safety.

New suspect charged in Edgefield County abuse, death of child

A 30-year-old man has been charged after the ongoing abuse and death of a child, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The victim told the complainant that the assault happened at the Whispering Woods Apartments, officials say.

The suspect was only known as “White Mike,” according to authorities.

Michael L. Vaughn, 64, of Augusta, was arrested on Aug. 26 and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree, according to jail records.
