New neighborhoods show growth in Grovetown, Harlem areas
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We went to see the progress on three new neighborhoods being built in Grovetown and Harlem Monday morning.
Columbia County is growing with three new neighborhoods popping up in Grovetown and Harlem.
Stanley Martin Homes is building new single-family homes in the Grovetown neighborhood of Ferguson Farms.
The city of Grovetown says the subdivision will include 99 single-family homes near Fort Eisenhower.
So far, 23 construction permits have been issued.
We spoke to surrounding neighbors who did not want to go on camera.
Facebook parent company brings data center, jobs to Aiken
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster visited Aiken Thursday for the announcement of an Aiken data center by social media giant Meta.

But one neighbor says he went just a couple of days ago to look at the subdivision to make sure it wasn’t too close to his home.
He says if it was, he would have considered moving.
Lauren McCarthy is the division president for Stanley Martin Homes.
She says what stood out to them was the location.
“The school system certainly is important. We feel like Columbia County offers a variety from Grovetown all the way out to Harlem,” said McCarthy.
Ferguson Farms is also close to Fort Eisenhower, which they say was a driving point as well.
Summit puts Glascock County teens on a route to safe driving
Middle school and high school students got a head start on learning safe driving habits during a summit Thursday in Glascock County.

There are two subdivisions going up in the area — one in GreenPoint South just outside of Harlem and the other in Harlem.
“Together there’s 357 in Greenpoint south, 112 I believe in Hickory Woods,” said McCarthy.
Between the three neighborhoods, it’s totaling nearly 560 new homes.
Houses have already started selling in all three neighborhoods.
“Hickory Woods will probably be completed within three years. GreenPoint South will take a little longer, simply because there are five more phases that still need to be developed. Ferguson is completely developed and so we should be out of there within three years,” said McCarthy.
Stanley Martin says they’ll be cutting the ribbon for Ferguson Farms on September 18.
