S.C. man gets $40K payout for his problematic arrest on ‘Live PD’
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A South Carolina man has received thousands of dollars from the state after filing a lawsuit following his arrest on a reality television show.
According to the lawsuit, Kirk Gaskins was arrested at his home on “Live PD” in March 2020 when police said they were serving a warrant.
However, documents showed that there was no warrant issued for any violent offense regarding Gaskins.
17-year-old suspect sought in Allendale shooting case
Zyshaud Dickerson, 17, is suspected in a shooting Aug. 13 on Railroad Avenue near Drayton Street. Authorities released a photo of him and said he’s 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds.

In the lawsuit, Gaskins stated that Berkeley County deputies arrested him in his home, but never told him why.
The next day, he appeared for a bond hearing, but the judge didn’t give him a bond because there were no charges and ordered him released.
The lawsuit, however, stated Gaskins wasn’t released because the Berkeley County Detention Center found a warrant from Charleston County for unpaid child .
Man accused of holding gun to victim’s head in Aiken County
A man was arrested in Aiken County after he held a gun to another man’s head during a dispute over a bicycle, according to deputies.

The suit said the only warrant was from 2019 for receiving money and then not doing the promised work, but he was never told about the warrant.
Gaskins said he never committed any crime involving violence, and the police surrounding his home with guns drawn was only to portray him as a dangerous criminal.
Hidden camera leads to over 20 counts of sexual exploitation of minor
A man has been arrested and charged with over 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in Wagener on Tuesday, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said Gaskins received a $40,000 payment from the state’s Insurance Reserve Fund following his lawsuit.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on the case.
