Gun reported at bus stop in Augusta, middle school parents learn
A student was spotted with a gun at a bus stop earlier this week, according to the Richmond County School System.

“A swift investigation was conducted, and a THC vape was discovered,” the district said on the school’s website.
The district reminded parents and students that such items are a “distraction” and are not allowed on campus.
It’s easy to understand why s might be concerned, since Cross Creek has been the site of multiple weapon incidents in the first weeks of the school year.
A gun was found last Thursday at Cross Creek High, which happened days after multiple weapons were found last week in Augusta schools, gunfire outside the Laney High School football stadium halted a game.

“The disturbance was witnessed by several students and we wanted to inform our parents in the event your child raised any concerns,” Principal Juliet King wrote in the letter.
The incident is being investigated and all parties responsible will be held able according to the code of conduct and the law, King wrote.
