‘Taken ill,’ Congressman Joe Wilson evaluated in D.C. hospital
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson is being evaluated at a hospital in Washington D.C.
Multiple reports say the Republican, who is a staunch er of Ukraine, attended a Ukrainian Independence Day event Tuesday night when a doctor, who was one of the event’s attendees, gave him medical treatment.
Wilson is 77 years old and has been serving in Congress for more than 20 years.
According to the post, Wilson was “taken ill” and is being evaluated to a hospital in Washington, D.C.
On a social media post, Wilson’s son, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, said:
“Doctors have confirmed to us that he has experienced stroke-like symptoms. I was able to speak with him moments ago and I am incredibly thankful that he is stable and being monitored by medical professionals.”
Augusta Commission fails to name city — again
Tuesday’s Augusta Commission meeting was another failed attempt at naming Augusta’s next city . City leaders met for a special called meeting with the purpose of hiring a city .
Wilson gained national attention in 2009 when he called then-President Barack Obama a liar during a t session of Congress.
Now, Wilson co-chairs the Congressional Ukraine Caucus and is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
He is running for re-election in South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District.
South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott posted on X, saying he hopes for a “full and speedy recovery” for the congressman.
