Rep. Joe Wilson gets pacemaker, continues recovery after health crisis
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Joe Wilson, R-S.C., has been given a pacemaker and is recovering smoothly after experiencing a medical emergency on Tuesday, according to multiple sources.
The public first learned of Wilson’s hospitalization after a post from his official X (formerly Twitter) saying he was being evaluated at a hospital in Washington D.C.
Augusta Commission fails to name city — again
Tuesday’s Augusta Commission meeting was another failed attempt at naming Augusta’s next city . City leaders met for a special called meeting with the purpose of hiring a city .
Reports stated Wilson had been attending a Ukrainian Independence Day event Tuesday night when a doctor who was also attending the event gave him medical treatment.
Wilson’s son, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, later posted to X that his father had been hospitalized after “experiencing stroke-like symptoms.”
Several South Carolina officials released statements on Wilson’s hospitalization, wishing the congressman a swift recovery. Some of these officials include Republican congressmen Rep. Russell Fry and Rep. Ralph Norman as well as Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC.
Recent posts from the congressman’s official X have stated Wilson is “in good spirits, improving, and speaking with family.”
He is expected to be released from the hospital in a matter of days.
