Suspect arrested in connection with Barnwell shooting
BARNWELL COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person is dead after a shooting in Barnwell on Tuesday, according to Barnwell County Coroner Denise Gibson.
Deputies responded to a shooting victim at the Barnwell City Fire Department and a related shooting incident on Highway 64 near the Friendship Community, according to officials.
Officials say the victim at the fire department was transported to the hospital for treatment.
According to the incident report, 49-year-old Julie Baxley called dispatch and stated that a shooting had occurred.
When officials arrived to the incident at a Highway 64 residence, deputies say Mathew Shane Baxley was found dead.
The coroner’s office told us Wednesday that they responded to the shooting around 5:30 p.m.
Officials say Julie was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Barnwell County Detention Center.
Aiken woman finds man in her house pointing a rifle at her
A man was arrested in Aiken on suspicion of entering a woman’s house and pointing a gun at her before fleeing and prowling around the neighborhood.

She is being charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection to the victim at the fire department, according to officials.
A bond hearing was held on Wednesday, and bond was denied.
Officials say there is no evidence that there is any danger to the public as a result of this incident.
