Finding Solutions: New thrift store helps Jessye Norman School of the Arts
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - There’s a new spot for thrifters in downtown Augusta.
All proceeds go right to the Jessye Norman School of the Arts as they find solutions to their free after-school and summer camp programs.
The Second Act Thrift Store is located just steps away from the school and offers art supplies, musical instruments, furniture, clothing, and more.
The school continues to grow, serving more than 400 students in free programs each year with more than 1,200 students in all programs combined.
Students and adults in Aiken, Edgefield, Richmond, Columbia, and Burke counties benefit from these programs.

Paralyzed Veterans of America has been around since 1946 with the goal of building brighter futures for our seriously injured heroes.

“As an art school, we receive a lot of donations that are art or music supplies. Some of them we can use, some we don’t have space for, so this is a really great way we can transform donations to the school into the we need on a daily basis,” said Gary Dennis, executive director of the Jessye Norman School of the Arts.
They accept donations on Tuesdays and are open to shoppers Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
They say 90% of their budget is for free programming.
Another way you can the school is by going to their annual benefit concert on October 13 at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.
