I-TEAM UPDATE: S.C. lawmaker resigned, but he’s still on re-election ballot
DENMARK, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A South Carolina lawmaker is still on the ballot for November despite stepping down from office last week.
I-TEAM uncovered that he sent dozens of attorney-client files to a former client’s home in Denmark.
A spokesperson with South Carolina Election Commission confirmed Pendarvis hasn’t withdrawn his candidacy for the office he just resigned from.
Pendarvis is up for re-election for District 113 in Charleston County and is running unopposed.
The Election Commission says a candidate can withdraw from the race at any time even though the deadline to remove one’s name from the ballot has ed.
The state suspended Pendarvis’ law license over the summer around the same time the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division opened an investigation of him.
