Disaster loans available for S.C. victims of Tropical Storm Debby

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - South Carolina businesses and residents affected by Tropical Storm Debby on Aug. 4-22 are eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business istration.

SBA Isabel Casillas Guzman made the loans available in response to a letter from Gov. Henry McMaster on Sept. 16, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. Businesses and residents in the declared area can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.

THE COMING STORM:

The declaration includes the primary counties of Berkeley and Orangeburg and the adjacent counties of Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Lexington and Williamsburg.

“The SBA is strongly committed to providing the people of South Carolina with the most effective and customer-focused response possible to assist businesses of all sizes, homeowners and renters with federal disaster loans,” said Guzman. “Getting businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA.”

The SBA will open Disaster Loan Outreach Centers at the Berkeley County istration Building in Moncks Corner and the Bowman Library in Bowman, to assist businesses and residents complete their disaster loan application, accept documents and provide updates on an application’s status.

Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment at an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center in advance

Here are the center schedules:

Berkeley County: Berkeley County istration Building, 1003 U.S. 52, Moncks Corner. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Sunday, permanently closes Oct. 9, at 4 p.m.

Orangeburg County: Bowman Library, 7105 Charleston Highway, Bowman. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Sunday, permanently closes Oct. 9, at 4 p.m.
