EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - As Hurricane Helene picks up in the CSRA, we’re seeing massive flooding in Columbia County areas.
One example is William Few Parkway in Evans, which is a flood-prone area.
On Thursday afternoon, a ditch was a gushing creek in front of the homes on William Few Parkway.
The water level has significantly risen since the afternoon, and now the manhole to a sewer is nearly covered by the water.
As the night goes on, water touching homes remains a concern for those living in the area.
At Windmill Plantation, there’s a lot of runoff but it’s going down towards William Few where we see flooding.
What you should know about power outages ahead of Helene
Georgia Power employees will be operating their storm center 24 hours a day as Helene nears, but what should you do in an outage?

There’s not a big concern at Windmill though.
We also caught a grandmother taking pictures with her grandson by the pond.

“We are just out patrolling the area looking at all the rain that’s falling,” said Renee Link, who lives in Windmill Plantation.
Speaking of patrolling, we’ve seen Columbia County utility workers patrolling this area all day too.
They say they’re keeping an eye on rising water and will divert if needed.
