Emergency relief: How to find locations offering help

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - As recovery efforts continue in the CSRA after Hurricane Helene, organizations and businesses are reaching out to help the community.

Relief events and locations

  • Food, water, paper towels and ice are available for disaster relief for the public at Burns Memorial Methodist Church in south Augusta at 2372 Lumpkin Road on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. until supplies run out.
  • The Richmond County Marshal’s Office in collaboration with Stacy Pulliam For Augusta Commissioner District 2, announced the start of our Emergency Fan Drive to help those in need stay cool. Donate until Oct. 10 at the Municipal Building, Beazley Room. The distribution will be held on Oct. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. at the substation located at 3050 Deans Bridge Road.
  • Aiken, Augusta South, Barnwell, Burke, North Augusta, Wilson and Thomson YMCAs are currently OPEN to the public with access to showers, charging stations, water and WiFi (where available), and wellness floors are open to . are providing a place for anyone to shower, charge devices and cool-off in the air conditioning. Some Y’s have access to WiFi or have set up coffee stations.
  • Emanuel County officials announced Walmart is providing the county with mobile laundry and shower trailers. Open 24-hours a day for 2 weeks at no charge, they have 14 washer and dryers, 4 women’s showers and 4 men’s showers. You will need to bring your own supplies for showering and laundry, and the showers will be cleaned after every use.
  • The Miracle of Faith Ministry will be giving out clothes, shoes and free lunch on Monday, Oct. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. located at 412 Orange Street.
  • On Monday, Oct. 7 starting at 9 a.m. local Home Depot locations will be distributing free disaster relief kits for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Kits include cleaning supplies, trash bags, work gloves, PPE and other essentials to help cleanup efforts. One kit per car, while supplies last.   • Dominion is generously providing access to mobile showers for individuals seeking a hot shower. There are 20 showers available for use between the hours of 10am and 3pm every day. Please to bring your own personal hygiene essentials. The showers are conveniently located at the Riverview Park Activities Center (facing the Activities Center) in the left parking lot.

  • Charging stations: Goodwill North Augusta, Aiken and North Augusta YMCA
  • Emergency Management of Aiken County will have charging stations and showers at 401 W Martintown Road suite 11.
  • The Waynesboro First Methodist Church located at 802 N Liberty Street will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with power for people to charge their devices and to stay cool out of the heat. They can also assist with laundry for work clothes, assisting with medication runs for those who cannot and meal delivery for shut-ins.   • The First Baptist Church located at 853 Liberty Street will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with shower, water, ice and power.
  • The Love and Care ECC Special Needs Services will host a cooling and charging station for families that have children with special needs. Please RSVP online or message the internal Love Bug text line. You can also go to the website.
