AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Hurricane Helene swept through causing devastation all across the CSRA and the southeast - damaging trees, power lines and hundreds of houses. If you have been impacted and need shelter, here’s where you can find it throughout the CSRA.

Free meals, water distribution, shelters for those in need in the CSRA

As the CSRA copes with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the community is coming together to serve those in need of a hot meal.

Please bring all essential items you might need, including but not limited to food and snacks, medications, blankets and pillows, any important documents, cell phones, and chargers. Augusta leaders promise help is on the way. But is it?

Emergency and damage cleanup numbers:

  • To report a power outage, your power company: Georgia Power (888) 891-0938, Jefferson Electric (877) 533-3377. 911 calls for emergencies only.
  • If you need assistance cleaning damages from Hurricane Helene in Augusta, call Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 844-965-1386.
  • If you need help with damage clean up following Hurricane Helene in South Carolina, call Crisis Cleanup at 844-965-1386 Volunteers may be able to assist with: mucking out, cleaning up trees, tarping roofs, clearing debris. All services are free. Service is not guaranteed.
  • Those who are dependent on medical equipment at home in South Carolina and are without power due to Helene may be eligible for a medical needs shelter. Call the DPH Care Line at 1-855-472-3432 to see if you are eligible and if a medical needs shelter is available in your area.
  • Aiken County Emergency Management says people needing tree removal, tarping, general assistance on private property can call crisis cleanup at 844-965-1386. For medical needs to include oxygen, call Department of Public Health Careline at 855-472-3432.
  • Brad Capitosti (write-in candidate for Burke County sheriff) says he and his brother are using equipment from their land management company to help people who are trapped. Anyone in the Burke county area who’s trapped and needs help still can call him at 706-755-9937. He’s also suspended all of his campaign fundraising efforts and asked that any contributions be made to the community of Perkins, which has not had a running well for a few weeks before the storm hit.
