Edgefield school staff, firefighters help man with broken down car
EDGEFIELD, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - In Edgefield County, the school district and firefighters are being praised for helping a man who was trying to get away from Hurricane Helene.
Hundreds of church volunteers contribute to local recovery efforts
More than 6,000 volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are helping areas affected by Hurricane Helene and Milton, including 300 volunteers in the Aiken and Augusta areas.

The school district says Larry Vinsett drove his car around a tree down on the road and damaged his axle. He got stuck and his car was undrivable - firefighters helped him until the emergency shelter opened at the JET Middle School.
But it didn’t end there.
The district helped fix his car at the Storm Thurmond Career and Tech Center and got it up and running again.
