Trump speaks at Ga. campaign event, mentions Laken Riley
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Former President Donald Trump took the stage at a Cobb County campaign event Tuesday night in metro Atlanta.
Trump started speaking at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre at right around 9 p.m. as the first day of early voting wrapped in Georgia. He was expected to start making remarks at 7:30 p.m.

As time ticks down to the Nov. 5 election, both Harris and Donald Trump are paying special attention to Georgia, a crucial swing state.
Trump will be in metro Atlanta on Tuesday, filming an all-women town hall for Fox News in Forsyth County and speaking at a campaign event at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
Both candidates came to the Augusta area to see the damage from Hurricane Helene.

At Tuesday’s event in Cobb County, talked about immigration and economic issues, including his proposal to eliminate taxes on tips, Social Security and overtime pay.
During his remarks, Trump mentioned Laken Riley, the Augusta University nursing student who was killed on the University of Georgia campus in February. Jose Ibarra, an immigrant from Venezuela who was in the country without proper documentation, was charged in connection to her death.
“Laken was a brilliant, young student. Top of her class. Going to be a great nurse. Nursing student. Everybody ired her. She was killed viciously,” Trump said, adding Ibarra was in the country through “open borders” under Vice President Kamala Harris.
Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Georgia on Saturday for her own campaign stop in Atlanta.
