AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Over two weeks later, and people in the CSRA are still trying to recover from Hurricane Helene. Here’s a look at some of the resources available.
YMCA
The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta is offering grab-and-go breakfast and lunch to kids at:
- Dorothy Hains Elementary, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Augusta South Family YMCA, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Burke County Family YMCA, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Thomson Family YMCA, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Wilson Family YMCA, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Monte Sano Elementary, 3-6 p.m.
- Aiken County Family YMCA, 3-7 p.m.
- North Augusta Family YMCA, 3-7 p.m.
Area YMCA locations are also open for the community to take showers, charge devices and cool off.

Other aid locations across the CSRA
AUGUSTA
- As part of our recovery efforts, all 19 Augusta Fire Stations (Stations 1, 2, 4-20) are stocked with bottled water for a grab-and-go service as of Thursday.
- A truckload of hurricane aid supplies will be distributed around noon Sunday, Oct. 20, at Dallas Heights Baptist Church, 2040 Boykin Road. The supplies were collected in St. Louis and driven across the country and include nonperishable food, clothing, cleaning supplies, paper products and more.
- Project Refresh will have shower days: Oct. 17 GAP from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Oct. 19 Jessye Norman from 9 to noon; Oct. 23 and 26 Master’s Table from 9 to noon.
- There will be a food giveaway until Oct. 31 from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The distributions will be held at 1439 Walton Way.
- Augusta officials have consolidated down to one shelter – at the Henry Brigham Community Center, 2463 Golden Camp Road. It’s still open for people whose homes are uninhabitable.
- Augusta Rescue Mission offers free laundry services at its Fresh Start Laundry, Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sign up at https://augustarescuemission.org/fresh-start-laundry.
- “Strike teams” of firefighters are bringing help to Augusta residents who need it. To get help, call 311.
- The Augusta Fire Department serves free warm meals daily at the Center of Hope at 1384 Greene St. at 5:30 p.m.
- Get food, ice, water and other supplies at 10 a.m. at Warren Church, 3202 Washington Road.
- Resource pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 631 Chafee Ave.
- Greater Augusta Interfaith Coalition will be giving away food and other supplies from noon to 4 p.m. daily except Sundays until Oct. 15 at 1439 Walton Way. For more information, call 706-707-9500 or 706-840-6844.
- If you are in need of pet food, here are distribution sites: Augusta Animal Services at 3163 Mack Lane; First Baptist at 3500 Walton Way Ext.; HUB for Community Innovation at 631 Chafee Ave.; Mayors South Augusta HQ at 4104 Windsor Spring Rd.
- The Waynesboro First Methodist Church located at 802 N. Liberty St. in Waynesboro will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with power for people to charge their devices and to stay cool out of the heat. It can also assist with laundry for work clothes, assisting with medication runs for those who cannot and meal delivery for shut-ins. Please reach out to Pastor Keith at 770-378-1059 for assistance.
- The First Baptist Church at 853 Liberty St. in Waynesboro will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with shower, water, ice and power.
AIKEN COUNTY
- On Oct. 17, Second Baptist Church will be host a supplies distribution at 9 a.m. breakfast will also be provided at 1151 York St. in Aiken.
- Fire station MRE and water distribution: Check with your local fire department.
- Aiken County Emergency Management says there are fixed feeding sites: Salvation Army Soup Kitchen at 604 Park Ave.; YMCA at 621 Trolley Line Road; Mercy Church at 2700 Whiskey Road.
- Dominion is providing access to mobile showers for individuals seeking a hot shower between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta.
- If you need laundry done, email the Journey Community Church at [email protected].
- Charging stations: Goodwill North Augusta, Aiken and North Augusta YMCA.
- Emergency Management of Aiken County will have charging stations and showers at 401 W Martintown Road, Suite 11, in North Augusta.
- The Love and Care ECC Special Needs Services will host a cooling and charging station for families that have children with special needs. Please RSVP online or message the internal Love Bug text line. You can also go to the website.
ELSEWHERE
- The Golden Harvest Food Bank will be delivering food on Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Sardis Police Department. They are also in need of volunteers.
- Edgefield County residents who are still in need of emergency food and water may receive them at the Edgefield Fire Department.
- Aiken, Augusta South, Barnwell, Burke, North Augusta, Wilson and Thomson YMCAs are currently open to the public with access to showers, charging stations, water and Wi-Fi.
- Emanuel County officials say Walmart is providing mobile laundry and shower trailers. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for two weeks. Bring your own supplies for showering and laundry.
- The Emanuel County Board of Commissioners announced there will be free hot meals at Swainsboro First Baptist Church and Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church from noon to 6 p.m.; Swainsboro High School bus ramp at 6:30 p.m.; the intersection of MLK Drive and U.S. Highway 1 at 6 p.m.
- At the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners office, they are distributing water and tarps.

How to help
- The Augusta Fire/EMA is collecting donations as part of their recovery efforts. If you would like to contribute, you can donate through the Amazon Wish List for the donations center.
- The Augusta Donation Center is accepting donations to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene. Every contribution goes directly to helping families rebuild and recover. They are in need of: blankets, first-aid kits, personal hygiene items, and baby supplies. you can Drop off donations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 4101 Windsor Spring Road Suite 10.
- The HUB is in need of canned goods, peanut butter, bread, cereal, canned proteins, cleaning supplies, trash bags, toiletries and baby items. Drop off donations at 631 Chafee Avenue.
- The Community Foundation for the CSRA is working tirelessly to make sure donated funds are put where they are needed most. Help us help our community by giving to the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund.
- Due to the aftereffects of Helene, the Friends of the Animal Shelter are in urgent need for 10 by 10 kennels and crates. County Animal Code Enforcement officers will get them to people in need.
