GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An 18-year-old Grovetown High School student was arrested over a video that showed the teenager holding a gun, apparently in a school restroom.

According to arrest warrants, Prince Zahur Malik Nixon had possession of a weapon in a school safety zone between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The warrant states Nixon brought and carried a 9mm Smith & Weston MP20 to the school.

Parents were told of the incident in a letter Thursday morning.

Colin Gray, the father of the suspected Apalachee High School shooter, appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

“In an effort to keep you informed we are notifying you of an incident regarding a video posted to social media in which a student was seen holding a firearm,” the letter stated. “s were alerted to the video late yesterday and immediately ed Columbia County School District Police.”

Upon further investigation, the video was believed to have been taken in a restroom at the school.

Nixon was arrested on Thursday, according to jail bookings. Parents were told he was found off campus.

The student will also be held able according to the code of conduct.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority; however, it is a team effort,” parents were told. “We thank those who immediately reported the post to the proper authorities to investigate.”
