Driver dies after crash on I-26 in Orangeburg County

BOWMAN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person has died after a crash on Interstate 26 in Orangeburg County on Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say the crash happened at 2:24 p.m. on I-26 eastbound at the 161 mile marker, just eight miles north of Bowman.

2 suspects accused of separate aggravated assaults

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two suspects involved in separate aggravated assault incidents.

Troopers say a 1986 Mercedes coupe was traveling in the left lane when it collided with a 2018 cement truck, who was traveling in the right lane.

The driver of the Mercedes coupe was injured in the crash transported to an area hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, according to troopers.

We have reached out to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office for information on the victim.
