Over 730K cast ballots in first week of S.C. early voting

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolinians have been eager to participate this election season.
The South Carolina Election Commission announced Monday that around 735,400 South Carolinians cast their ballots during the first week of the early voting period, suring the approximately 561,600 people who voted during the entire early voting period from the 2022 general election.
“We are excited to witness such a strong turnout of early voters making their voices heard,” said Howie Knapp, South Carolina Election Commission executive director. “We expect continued record-breaking participation as we enter the second week of early voting.”
Here’s a breakdown of the first week of early voting:
- Monday, Oct. 21: Approximately 126,700
- Tuesday, Oct. 22: Approximately 127,800
- Wednesday, Oct. 23: Approximately 128,800
- Thursday, Oct. 24: Approximately 127,700
- Friday, Oct. 25: Approximately 134,400
- Saturday, Oct. 26: Approximately 90,000
Early voting continues through Saturday.
Early voting centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters will be asked to present some form of photo ID when checking in to vote.
Election Day is Nov. 5.
