AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Besides the presidential race, here’s what’s on the ballot for some of our local counties.

We’ve been tracking multiple races since the primaries- one being the race for Richmond County sheriff.

Back in June, Gino Brantley won against Sheriff Richard Roundtree by just over 1,000 votes in a runoff.

Now that independent candidate Richard Dixon suspended his campaign for Richmond County, Brantley is running unopposed.

Learn if you need a provisional ballot ahead of Election Day

We learned from the Richmond County Board of Elections director there are cases for getting a provisional ballot.

Over in Aiken County, voters are choosing a new sheriff, too.

The two names on your ballot will be republican candidate Marty Sawyer and democratic candidate Lucas Grant.

At a candidate forum in August, Grant told voters he’ll bring forth a grant-writing team.

Sawyer said school safety would be a top priority for him if elected.

Only time will tell what the future will look like for school safety reform in Aiken County, but it’s up to your vote to decide.

Election officials ensure safety as early voting ends in Georgia

We’ve already seen a historic push for early voting this election cycle. But when it comes to safety, there is still a lot of concern once people get to the polls.

These are a couple of other local races on our radar.

In Burke County, Sheriff Alfonzo Williams is up for re-election.

He’s running up against Brad Capitosti - the write-in candidate.

Over in Wilkes County, Darryl Porter and Detric Jones are in the running.

And in South Carolina, McCormick County will elect the next sheriff between Chad Cox and Tim Kelly.

Early voting began with a state record for voter turnout during the start of the advance voting period. The records have continued.

Also on your ballot in Richmond County are candidates for school board.

There are four districts to consider this time around.

You’re looking at videos when candidates running in districts 4, 5, 8, and 10 who attended a forum recently.

All of them talked about what their goals for the school system would be if elected.

This includes transparency and mentorship efforts.

Aiken County voters, you’ll see a penny sales tax renewal on your ballot.

This one is for the Aiken County Public School District.

Ten years ago, the Aiken County Public School District could fund projects through the sales tax, but now it is up for renewal.

This renewal would hope to address issues at Silver Bluff High, North Augusta Middle and South Aiken High School, for example.

Also on the ballot in Aiken County, is the capital project sales tax. This tax helps pay for capital improvement projects in the county.

The 1% sales tax was originally ed back in 2000 and received multiple renewals.
