More details emerge on Augusta shooting that killed 15-year-old

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The report on the shooting death of 15-year-old Devayn Grissam was released after a suspect was arrested in the case, authorities told us on Tuesday.

Authorities say they responded to the 2300 block of Helsinki Drive around 6:21 p.m. about a victim with a gunshot wound.

Grissam, of Augusta, was located suffering at least one gunshot wound, deputies said. He was taken to the hospital where he later died at 7:07 p.m., according to the report.

Ricky Antwavious Holmes, 19, was arrested on Friday, according to jail bookings.

Arrest warrants state that Holmes exchanged gunfire, striking Grissam in the torso, causing his death.

“He took a piece of me. Yes, definitely. He took a piece of me, and I don’t know if I heal from it, you know,” said Telisha Grissam, Devayn’s aunt.

Holmes is charged with murder, according to jail bookings.

Records show Holmes is being held in Richmond County jail
