Augusta suspect shot during alleged armed robbery attempt

An Augusta man has been arrested after allegedly attempting multiple armed robberies, according to arrest warrants.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’ve learned more about an Augusta suspect who was shot while allegedly attempting to rob someone with a gun - his second attempt that day, according to authorities.

Gregory Lee Grant Jr., 36, was arrested on Wednesday.

According to arrest warrants, on Oct. 29, around 3 p.m., Grant allegedly came up to the victims while they were sitting in the front of a 2024 Nissan Sentra on the 3000 block of Peach Orchard Road.

Warrants state Grant then pointed a gun at them and demanded they give him the car.

A brief fight took place in which Grant put one of the victims in a headlock and pointed the gun at his head, according to officials.

The arrest warrants state the brother of the victim then shot Grant.

Suspect arrested in shooting that killed 15-year-old in Augusta

A suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 15-year-old Devayn Grissam.

On the same day, arrest warrants show Grant allegedly approached another victim while she was in her car, a black 2020 Nissan Sentra.

Grant pulled out a gun and demanded the victim give him the car according to officials.

The warrants state the victim pulled out her own weapon, and Grant walked away.

According to the incident report, when deputies arrived on scene, Grant was lying on the ground close to the entrance and was transported by Central EMS.

Grant had an injury to the left foot, was very agitated and appeared to be in an alternate state of mind, according to deputies.

Deputies observed four bullet holes in the rear enger side of the 2020 Nissan Sentra.

Grant is charged with five counts of criminal attempt felony and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during a crime, according to jail bookings.

Records show Grant is being held in the Richmond County Detention Center.
