Judge steps aside from Apalachee High School shooting case
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The judge presiding over the Apalachee High School shooting trial recused himself on Thursday, according to court documents.
Judge Currie M. Mingledorff II stepped back in part due to his retirement. He also said his successor is currently an assistant district attorney in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit — and because the circuit oversees Barrow County, the successor’s involvement as a judge would create a conflict of interest.

Aiken daughter accused of throwing bleach in mother’s eyes
A daughter has been accused of throwing bleach in her mother’s eyes while two juveniles were present in Aiken, according to authorities.

In October, a grand jury handed up dozens of charges against the son and father — including several counts of felony and malice murder for Colt and several counts of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for Colin. Investigators say Colin gave Colt the gun allegedly used during the shooting as a Christmas gift.
Colt and Colin are expected to be tried separately. Their next court date is scheduled for Nov. 21.
