Homeless man dies after being hit by car in downtown Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A homeless man has died after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Friday.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says they responded to Wellstar MCG emergency room in reference to a pedestrian fatality.
The coroner’s office has identified the victim as 61-year-old, Vincent Depirro.
Depirro was struck by a vehicle at 10th and Greene streets, according to the coroner’s office.
2nd driver charged in I-20 crash that killed 24-year-old near Grovetown
One driver was going below 40 mph with a flat, and the other was using a cellphone playing YouTube videos, authorities say. Both are arrested.

Depirro was taken to Wellstar MCG by EMS, where he was later pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m., the coroner’s office says.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
