President Joe Biden and both chambers of Congress are expected back in DC by Tuesday. President Biden started the week in Brazil at the G20 meetings.

Tuesday, the House of Representatives Oversight Committee has a hearing with FEMA Director Deanne Criswell over the responses to recent deadly hurricanes. Hurricane Helene devastated the North Carolina mountains while Hurricane Milton made a direct hit on Sarasota, Florida.

House Democrats will have an important leadership vote on the same day. Last week, the Minority Leader Representative Hakeem Jeffries expressed confidence he will continue to lead House Democrats when Trump takes office.

On Wednesday, the Directors of Homeland Security and the FBI are scheduled to testify to the House Homeland Security Committee about threats to the homeland.

Friday, the holiday season kicks off in Washington with the arrival of the Capitol Hill Christmas Tree, trucked in from Alaska.
