Feast Before the Feast event returns for another holiday of hot meals
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - With just over one week until Thanksgiving, many organizations are making sure everyone gets a hot meal this year.
Feast Before the Feast is one of those events that actually takes place before the holiday.
Last year, organizer Monique Braswell says there were more than 2,000 plates made. More than she’d ever seen.
It all started as a way to make sure students got the food they needed over the holiday break.
“We wanted to make sure that every child received a meal,” said Braswell. “We didn’t know how many kids were going home and wouldn’t have a Thanksgiving meal. You know, school is closed during that time, and we just wanted to make sure that they had one so we gave it the week before Thanksgiving.”

Thanksgiving is just two weeks away. Here are all the events, giveaways, feasts and more in the CSRA.
The Feast Before the Teast will be on Nov. 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at several locations:
- McBean Community Center at 115 Hephzibah-McBean Road.
- Gracewood Community Center at 2309 Tobacco Road.
- Henry Brigham Community Center at 2463 Golden Camp Road
- Bernie Ward Community Center at 1941 Lumpkin Road.
- Carrie J. Mays Community Center at 1014 11th Avenue
- Oakpoint at 730 East Boundary
Braswell also says they are still looking for volunteers to help out the plates.
